It was 1978, when Cicely Tyson starred in the movie, "A Woman Called Moses", not since then have Harriet Tubman's story been shared to on a big screen. It was this movie with Cicley Tyson that launched me into my research and development of my storytelling program as Harriet Tubman. But if you look at the write up I found on Amazon Prime: (Cicely Tyson stars in this epic rendering of the incredible life of Harriet Ross Tubman who led hundreds of slaves to freedom through her "Underground Railroad". She also aided the Union Army as a reconnaissance agent, mobilizing black troops, freeing slaves, and staging raids. To those she helped escape, Harriet Tubman became known as "Moses". She will be the face of the new U.S. $20 bill. Starring Cicely TysonWill GreerJames Wainwright)
You will find that the movie version on Harriet Tubman's life, will not be as accurate as her real-life story. The 300 slaves story that we learned is not accurate. She did free around 70 people. Hey! That is Remarkable!
Yes, the movies are made to be exciting and I am so glad that the movie is being released that I have no problem, (so far, as I have not seen the movie yet) as to it being a little more hyped than the truth. This is why my blog here at the HarrietTubmanStore.com, goal is to share a more accurate story of Harriet Tubman's legacy. I am looking forward to discussing more after I see the movie. I hope you will join in on the discussions.
